The Little Things (Why Beta Testing Matters So Much)
When I first built the chore completion flow in Släkt, it made sense to me.
Swipe right to complete a chore — clean, simple, modern. Done.
But then I started hearing from testers.
“Wait, how do I mark this chore as done?”
“I didn’t realize you could swipe it.”
“I thought maybe I had to tap and hold or something?”
That feedback hit hard — not because they missed it, but because I had. And it was a crucial moment.
Chore completion isn’t just one feature — it’s the entire point of the app. It needed to be clear, intuitive, and satisfying.
That’s when I made the change: a small, simple “handle” on the left edge of each chore card. Just a subtle visual hint that there’s something swipeable here. No flashing arrows. No tutorial pop-ups. Just a quiet little nudge.
It’s one of those things that seems obvious in hindsight. But honestly, it wouldn’t have happened without beta testers. That’s the power of real feedback from real people.
So if you’re testing Släkt — or plan to — thank you. You’re helping make the app better in ways most people will never notice, but feel every day.
Because in family life, and in good product design — the little things matter most.
