Why I’m Building Släkt

Welcome to Släktstuga — part cabin journal, part dev log, part parenting survival guide.

I’m a dad. I work full time. I wake up early, I code in stolen hours, and I drive my kids around (with tons of help from mom) in between. Somewhere in the middle of all that, I realized our family needed a better system to stay organized — especially around chores.

I tried all the usual apps. Too corporate, too clunky, too generic. I didn’t want some gamified leaderboard. I wanted something that felt like us. So I started building Släkt — a calm, simple, actually useful family chore app.

It’s still in development, but it’s already helping us — and I think it can help other families too.

This blog — Släktstuga — will follow the journey:

  • Behind-the-scenes decisions as I build and improve the app

  • What works (and doesn’t) for managing a household with kids

  • Honest reflections on being a parent and a developer at the same time

If that sounds like your world — or if you just want to follow along — you’re in the right place.

Thanks for being here.
